The day was quite overcast when I began the painting, I decided to put the accent on both colors and forms. Then the sun appeared in the middle of my work. I still remained with the same focus, but the colors had become more vibrant and I was able to add shadows under the vines. But all in all it is a good practice to paint in all kind of weather. And it is also good to ask oneself what kind of focus we are going to paint today: light, colors, forms, mood? The time of the day is also a very good exercise. Morning light is very different from evening light by example. Monet was an expert at painting the moods of the different times of the day with his painting of the same cathedral at different times of the day. And he was not afraid to paint overcast landscapes, as seen in his different sea coast paintings.
