Painting commissioned for a book cover: The Brahma-Samhita

Now I start developing the painting by applying a general coat of glazed colors all over the canvas. Again I am using my wet in wet technique: I dip a large flat brush into my slow drying medium ( my home made Maroger medium in the Titian tradition made with black oil and wax), and into that wet area, I apply colors with my fast drying medium. The wet area will remain workable for many hours and this allows very fluid brush strokes.

I am working Krishna's figure as well as the lotus flower, leaving the figure of Brahma untouched for now. I get into more details such as the jewelry, the shadows, modeling in general. The right side of Krishna's figure is more developed than the left and you can see the difference. The details will be be worked until I am satisfied, then the figure of Brahma will emerge forward and become more prominent, after I start working on it as well.
